Homemade Remedies For Blackheads

Homemade Remedies For Blackheads consist of removal masks, steaming your face, and at times a gentle removal of the blackhead.  Blackheads form just like pimples except the opening of the clogged pore is open.  Once the pore is open and exposed to air, the color of the sebum and dead skin cells turns black.

Cystic Acne: What Is It and How To Treat

Cystic Acne is the formation of a buildup of dead skin cells, sebum (skin’s natural oil) and bacteria deep within the hair follicle.  This build up then ruptures sending the bacteria out into the tissue instead of up the hair follicle or shaft.  During this stage of development, you may feel some discomfort in the area.  As the infection and pus grow, the pus or infection comes to the skin’s surface where it manifests into boil-like infections.  At this time, the Cystic Acne is very inflamed, red and very painful.  The very worst thing you can do is pop Cystic Acne.  The pus from this site is very infectious, and wherever it lands, it will develop into another Cystic Acne lesion.   In the course of a day, where on your face do your fingers touch?  The answer is all over your face, which includes your eyes, ears, neck, head, mouth, nose, etc.

You can use a few Home Remedies For Acne for the Cystic Acne.  As with any skin care routine or regime, you must be consistent.  Nothing works overnight and you may even find that you will need to see your health care practitioner for other treatments for your Cystic Acne.

Acne scars can be found anywhere on the body where an acne outbreak occurred.   Acne Scars on the back are just as emotionally upsetting as the ones on the face.  Girls want to wear that outfit or swimming suit that shows off their back while the boys like to go shirtless during the summer months. Treating Acne Scars on difficult areas to reach will probably require the use of an extra set of hands.  As much as teenagers do not like asking their parents for help, you may need to enlist the help of a parent or sibling.  If you just cannot ask your parent(s) then ask a friend.

Managing Scalp Acne

Scalp Acne is the same acne you find on your face, neck, back, arms and chest.  It is just located on your scalp. Scalp Acne occurs when the hair follicle becomes clogged with oil (sebum), dead skin cells, and eventually bacteria.  The positive side to Scalp Acne is that your hair usually covers the pimples so they are less noticeable.  The down side is the scalp tends to itch more which results in scratching.  Even when you do not have Scalp Acne, you should not scratch your head with your fingernails.  This action just causes the breakage of the skin, which allows infections to occur and spread.  Try rubbing your scalp with the pads of your fingers.  Putting Lavender Essential Oil on your fingertips and then rubbing the oil on the scalp helps stop the itch.

Managing Scalp Acne

Scalp Acne tends to be a bit more difficult to treat since some of the home remedies tend to lighten or change the color of the hair.  Spot treatments can be difficult since it is harder to reach the scalp acne since there is hair in the way.  It is always a good idea to test the treatment in an inconspicuous spot.

Here are some home remedies for Scalp Acne:

Managing Scalp Acne

1.  Add Lavender and Tea Tree Essential Oils to your shampoo and conditioner.  The Lavender Oil will reduce inflammation and combats excess sebum (oil) on the skin while the Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) is antiseptic, antifungal and antimicrobial.  Remember that only use 100% Therapeutic/Medical Grade Essential Oils to obtain the health benefits.

Managing Scalp Acne

2.  Cut a fresh garlic clove and rub on and around the acne.  The garlic will help acne disappear.  (You may want to do this when you are going to stay at home due to the strong odor of the garlic.)

3.  Grind nutmeg with raw milk, place on the acne and leave for an hour or two before rinsing it off.

Managing Scalp Acne

4.  Use Lemon juice for a hair rinse.  Lemon will lighten the color of your hair.  If you do want to lighten your hair color then while your hair is still wet, sit out in the sunshine until your hair dries.

5.  Apply Lemon and Apple Cider Vinegar to your scalp.  Use 4 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar with some Lemon juice.  Apply to your entire scalp and hair. Leave on for an hour or two then rinse with cool water.

Note:  Lemon juice can cause a stinging sensation and some people do not tolerate this well.  If this happens to you, then mix your Lemon juice with yogurt and then apply.

What Causes Acne?

What Causes Acne

What Causes Acne?

What causes Acne?  No one can point to just one item that causes acne.  Everyone is different and everyone is unique.

Some of the research suggests that hormonal changes at puberty for both the male and female is What Causes Acne.  Hormonal changes at puberty can enlarge the pores and encourage an increase in sebum (the skin’s natural oil of protection).  Some research suggests that diet contributes to the Cause of Acne.  Eating a diet high in dairy or carbohydrate rich foods that increase the blood sugar can trigger acne.  Some research suggests that you may be predisposed to acne, and this is What Causes Acne.  They feel if your parents or other family members had acne then your chances of having acne are much higher.  Some research suggests that certain medications can cause or trigger acne.  Athletes or body builders that take steroids are at risk of getting acne.

What Causes Acne       What Causes Acne

Here is what we do know.  Three factors do contribute to What Causes Acne.  They are:

  • Over-production of oil (sebum)
  • Irregular shedding of the dead skin cells resulting in the irritation of the hair follicle
  • Buildup of bacteria

Have you heard the saying “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of Cure”.  Prevention is the key to Acne.  For some, prevention may result in not having acne, while in others the prevention may result in mild acne and not severe acne.

Prevention steps and it does not matter if you are male or female:

Daily skin care routine – the key here is consistency.  Wash your face with a mild cleanser both morning and night, followed by a toner to make sure all traces of dirt or makeup are gone, followed by an oil free moisturizer.  Oily skin still needs a moisturizer to help seal in the moisture.

Daily use of a sunscreen – sunscreen protects the skin and helps prevent skin damage caused by the sun.  Wear it under your makeup.

Drink plenty of water daily – stay well hydrated and flush out the toxins that are in your system.  Well-hydrated skin can shed the dead skin cells normally.

Healthy diet – eat healthier and live longer with beautiful youthful glowing skin.

Avoid touching your face — Your fingers touch so many things during the day and when you touch your face with your fingers, you leave behind whatever was on your fingers.

Hair and skin Products – your skin and scalp will tell you if the chemicals in the products are irritating. Discontinue using products that cause redness, itching, rash, swelling, etc.

Stress – find ways to reduce or manage your stress level in your life.

Turmeric Facial Masks have been used by people from India and Asia for centuries.  Turmeric reduces inflammation, detoxifies your liver, fights free radicals and soothes your digestive tract when taken internally.  The Curcumin is the active ingredient in Turmeric, and it is a powerful antioxidant, has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.  Turmeric Facial Masks can help restore your skin’s natural balance.

Turmeric will stain your skin when used in large amounts and if not completely washed off your face.  After rinsing off the Turmeric Facial Mask, follow with a toner.  The toner will remove the any Turmeric Mask that has been left behind.   If you are unsure if the turmeric will stain your skin, then rub a slice of lemon in a circular motion on your face and then rinse off.  Lemon juice will whiten and lighten your skin.

Baking Soda Masks have been used by men and women in their beauty regime for years.  Even makeup contains some baking soda or sodium bicarbonate.   Purchase your Baking soda in your favorite grocery store. It is inexpensive to use.  Do Not substitute baking powder for Baking Soda.  Baking Powder will burn and irritate your skin.

Baking Soda Masks

You can use Baking Soda as a spot treatment, a cleanser and a facial mask.  As a spot treatment, apply the paste just to the pimple or blackhead, let set for 10 minutes then rinse.   The Baking Soda dries out the blemish.  Rinse your face several times.   You do not want to leave any trace of the Baking Soda on your skin, as it is very drying.

A word of caution, if at any time you experience burning or stinging, wash the Baking Soda Mask off your face.  When this happens, it means that your skin is very sensitive and easily irritated.  Always follow your Baking Soda Mask, spot treatment or cleanser with an oil free moisturizer.

Egg White Masks have been used for centuries when it comes to beautiful skin.  The egg is rich with protein, vitamins and minerals, which nourishes the skin.  The egg also is a great cleanser, exfoliate, and will lighten the skin.  It also is an effective astringent, which means it tightens and firms the skin. Your skin type will determine whether you use an egg white, egg yolk or the entire egg.  The egg white is used for oily skin, yolk for dry skin, and the entire egg for normal skin.  You can add any ingredient(s) you want to an egg facial mask.  Adding Lavender Essential Oil will relax and calm you during the treatment and bring antiseptic properties to your skin.  Egg masks also tighten your skin and can give you a face-lift.  Once the Egg White Mask is on layback, relax, put cucumber slices on your eyes and enjoy the moment.
